How to install TikTok You APK on Android

Installing TikTok You APK takes a few minutes on an arm64 phone. Start with the file from this site and enough free storage for it to unpack.

Download TikTok You APK

Before you start

Confirm the phone is 64-bit. The files on the download page ship arm64-v8a libraries only. A 32-bit-only phone will refuse the APK even after you free storage.

Free at least the size printed on the button, plus room for Android to unpack the app. Stay on Wi-Fi if the connection drops large files. Sign-in uses the account you already have. This install does not create that account.

If the Play Store copy of the short-video app is installed, plan to remove it. Both use com.zhiliaoapp.musically, and Android keeps one app per package name.

Install TikTok You step by step

  1. Open the download page and wait out the countdown on the current file. The previous file is available immediately.
  2. Save the APK and wait until the download finishes. Match the finished size to the figure on that button.
  3. Open the file from the notification or the Downloads folder.
  4. If Android blocks it, allow that source under Install unknown apps, then open the file again.
  5. If Play Protect labels the file, read the warning. Continue only if you meant to install this modified client. Cancel if you wanted the store build.
  6. If Android says the app was not installed, uninstall the app that already uses com.zhiliaoapp.musically, then open the file again.
  7. Open TikTok You and sign in. Grant camera, microphone, and media access when the app asks. On Android 13 and later those media prompts are separate for photos, video, and audio.

Allow installs from the source app

On Android 8 and later, each source app has its own install switch. If Chrome saved the file, allow Chrome. If the Files app opened it, allow Files. A switch you turned on for a different browser does not cover this file.

The path is Settings, then Apps, then the source app, then Install unknown apps. Turn it on, return to the file, and open it again. You can turn the switch off after the install if you do not want that app to install other packages.

Fix common install errors

App not installed. The package com.zhiliaoapp.musically is already on the phone with a different signature. That includes a Play Store install of the short-video app. Uninstall it, then open this file again. Uninstalling removes the app's local data on the phone. Details are in why TikTok You replaces the TikTok app.

Parse error. The download stopped early, or the file was renamed and damaged. Delete the partial file, download it again, and check the finished size against the button on the download page.

Not enough space. The current file is 379.0 MB. Free at least that much, plus room for Android to unpack it. Move photos or offline videos off the phone if the installer stops near the end.

App not installed as a package appears to be invalid. Treat this like a parse error. Download the file again from this site rather than from a copy someone sent in a chat.

After the app opens

Sign in with the account you want to use. The client then asks for the permissions in its manifest. Camera and microphone cover recording. Photos, video, and audio cover picking media. Contacts, notifications, and billing can appear as well. What each request is for is in TikTok You permissions.

Region, feed filters, colors, and the launcher icon live in the mod settings. The current release redesigned that screen, so an older screenshot of the menu may not match. Feed filters are covered in TikTok You feed settings.

Update TikTok You

Download the newer file from the download page and open it over the copy you already have. If Android reports a signature conflict, uninstall the older copy first, then install the new file. The previous file stays listed if you still need it.

Hiding rules are tied to the client version. After this update, a rule from the older client can stop. Open the interface editor and set the rule again if a part of the screen comes back.
